KELOWNA – Kelowna’s longest-serving mayor and champion of free-enterprise Walter Gray is endorsing Andrew Wilkinson for BC Liberal Leader.
Mayor Gray was an owner/partner in radio stations at Salmon Arm, Revelstoke, Trail, Nelson and Creston. During his 50-year career in broadcasting, he built and operated three of Kelowna's radio stations. He served as mayor of Kelowna from 1996 – 2005 and again from 2011 – 2014. His motto was “Kelowna is open for business” and he ushered in a period of development that continues to this day.
A true free-enterpriser, Mayor Gray is a longtime member of the BC Liberal and Social Credit Parties and was on Premier Bill Bennett's Constituency Association Executive.
“Andrew Wilkinson has solid experience and an enviable track record in and out of government,” said Gray. “Andrew has lived all across the province and understands B.C.’s many regional issues, and most importantly that one size does not necessarily fit all. He understands business and has sweeping knowledge of what a BC Liberal government can do to get our province moving in the right direction.”
“As a leader within our free-enterprise coalition, Walter’s support shows that we’re on the right track and have the momentum to win this leadership race and the next election,” said Andrew.
Mayor Gray’s endorsement follows this week’s announcement of support from six additional caucus members, making Andrew the candidate with the most support within the BC Liberal caucus at 12 MLAs from across the province.
